The Bay of Santander is one of the most beautiful in the world. It can be seen from different points (Centro Botín, Paseo Marítimo…). Moreover, from the city centre you can reach 9 beaches in 30’/60′, depending on how you make the journey, in this order:

  • “La Fenómeno”, near the Duna Zaera. The last to be reached.
  • Los Peligros.
  • La Horadada.
  • El Balneario.
  • Bikinis.
  • La Magdalena.
  • El Camello.
  • First Beach, next to the Casino.
  • Second Beach.

There is no other city in the world that offers this possibility. And, if we are in the mood and we walk almost 4 kilometres, we can go to Mataleñas beach.
Santander’s gastronomy includes all kinds of fresh delicacies (fish, meat, vegetables, stews, casseroles, desserts…), topped off with excellent local ciders and liqueurs, such as the famous orujos.
Finally, leisure activities include a boat trip around the bay, a day at Cabárceno or a walk through the Pereda Gardens, either to the Botín Centre or to the current headquarters of the Bank of Spain (the Reina Sofía Associated Centre in Santander, with the Lafuente Archive) and the Post Office and, a few metres further on, to the Cathedral.
